They say to never open a book with commentary on the weather (and I assume the advice applies to websites), so I won’t tell you about the wind blowing through the small, Canadian town I’m writing from. They also say to use the time of a total stranger in such a way that they will not feel the time was wasted, so I’ll get right to it.
I write screenplays. Some are short, some are features, and some are series. Usually, they are funny. Occasionally, they’re dark. And every once in a while I’ll scare the shit out of myself (and hopefully you).
At the heart of everything I write is community. Maybe it’s because I was homeschooled and spent my childhood longing for one. Or maybe it’s because I wound up in a cult in my teens and saw the dangers of the wrong kind of community. Or maybe it’s because loneliness is my greatest fear, and it is hard to be lonely in a community.
And nothing builds community like a great story. Some examples…
